Primary Years Programme

Seymour College has taken the exciting step to enter into the Candidacy process for offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) in the Junior School. At the heart of the PYP is the learner. The Learner Profile is a set of attributes that aims to develop international mindedness within its community.  Under the leadership of our teachers, our girls will strengthen their skills of inquiring, thinking and communicating and become open-minded, courageous, caring, balanced, reflective, knowledgeable and principled in their interactions with each other and their world.

The PYP provides a curriculum framework of 5 essential elements: knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action. Staff units of inquiry which will be taught throughout the year, covering six transdisciplinary themes, or global contexts, for learning. Learning activities will be engaging, relevant, challenging and significant and our students will learn through structured inquiry, to build meaning and refine their understanding.
