Seymour College’s Early Years (our ELC) caters for
girls and boys from 12 months old to school age across
four carefully curated spaces.
Our Early Years children are nurtured by our educators, as they begin creating connections and discovering the world around them.
Our Early Years learning journey is thoughtfully designed around four dedicated spaces, each created to meet the individual needs and developmental stages of children from 12 months through to school age.
We recognise that the first five years of life are a period of rapid growth and development. By working within focused age groups, our teachers, learning space leaders and educators can build strong relationships with children and provide targeted teaching practices, while adapting learning environments, routines and experiences to support each stage of development. This approach is complemented by our play-based Emergent Curriculum, giving children meaningful opportunities to explore, discover and learn as they grow.
In addition, our bespoke Prep program provides a considered transition into school through a carefully curated combination of hands-on, play-based learning and short bursts of intentional teaching. Prep forms part of our Junior Years, also situated on McGregor Campus, and provides a pathway for four-year-old girls to begin their Junior Years journey.
At the Early Years, we believe in the uniqueness of each child, the need for children to develop their skills and abilities at their own individual rate, and the development of the whole person – intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

The Centre is open for 50 weeks per year from 7.30am until 6.00pm.
Seymour College’s Early Years is licensed with the Education and Early Childhood Services Registration and Standards Board of South Australia (EECSRSB) with a capacity for providing for more than 130 children per day.
A requirement of being an approved long day care service is that we follow the Australian Government’s Priority of Access Guidelines when there is a waiting list or a number of parents are applying for a limited number of vacant places.
Eligible residents of Australia may be entitled to receive a government subsidy (currently childcare benefit and/ or rebate) which assists with their childcare fees.
