Year
10 to Year 12
Building on the foundation established
in earlier years, Seymour's Senior School continues to encourage
the pursuit of personal excellence, according to each girl's ability.
The Senior School caters for Years 10 to 13 and has a proud record
of achievement, with the majority of students continuing to tertiary
study. Its teaching staff is caring, experienced and highly qualified.
Many Seymour girls
perform at the highest level, and all are
encouraged to attain their own level of excellence.
The concept of personal excellence encourages
students to strive for improved results, whilst
promoting self-esteem.
In Senior School,
the girls of each clan are placed in three
vertically grouped forms, under the care of a Form
Teacher closely associated with the Clan. Students
then remain in this group for their time in Senior
School, building a close relationship with their
Form Teacher over this period. The Chief Guardian
of each Clan has a coordinating role in the
pastoral care of the Senior School girls in her
Clan, adding another level of care for each
student, in support of the Form Teacher and Head of
Senior School.
The mix of year
levels in each form facilitates greater contact
amongst Senior School students and creates a
situation which reflects more closely the reality
of tertiary institutions and the workplace, where
individuals tend not to be so rigidly grouped as an
age cohort.
The pastoral care
and extension program in Senior School helps
students face the pressures and challenges of
today's world. It encourages them to approach the
future with confidence. To support students and
parents, the College employs both a Student
Counsellor and a Careers Counsellor.
