FROM A UNITING CHURCH HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE:
[Words in bold are said by the whole congregation.]

OPENING PRAYER:

Eternal God, Lord of heaven and earth, we praise you for your greatness. Your wisdom is seen in all your works. Your grace and truth are revealed in Jesus Christ your Son. Your presence and power are given to us through the Holy Spirit. Therefore, O blessed Trinity, we worship and adore you for ever and ever. Amen.

CONFESSION:

In penitence and faith, let us confess our sins to almighty God. Let us pray:

Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed: we have not loved you with our whole heart, we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Chris our Lord. Amen.

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

Hear then Christ's word of grace to us:
Your sins are forgiven.
Thanks be to God.
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

All thanks and praise, glory and honour, be yours at all times, and in every place, creator Lord, holy Father, true and living God. We praise you that through your eternal Word you brought the universe into being and made us in your own image. You have given us this earth to care for and delight in, and with its bounty you preserve our life.
We thank you that you bound yourself to all people with the promises of a gracious covenant, and called us to serve you in love and peace.
Above all, we give you thanks for your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ; by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born a man and lived our common life; to you he offered his life in perfect obedience and trust; he has delivered us from our sins, brought us new life, and reconciled us to you, Father, and to one another.
And so we praise you with the faithful of every time and place, joining with choirs of angels and the whole creation in the eternal hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION:

And now, Father, we thank you for these gifts of your creation, this bread and this wine, and we pray that we who eat and drink them in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit in obedience to our Saviour Christ may be partakers of his body and blood, and be made one with him and with each other in peace and love.
For on the night that he was betrayed he took bread, and when he had given you thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat. This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.
After supper, he took the cup; and again giving you thanks he gave it to the disciples, saying: Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for all people for the remission of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

With this bread and this cup we show forth Christ's death until he comes in glory.
With thanksgiving, Father, for the gift of your Son, we proclaim his passion and death, his resurrection and ascension, the outpouring of his Spirit, and his presence with his people.
Renew us by your Holy Spirit, that we may be united in the body of your Son and serve you as a royal priesthood in the joy of your eternal kingdom.
Receive our praises, Father almighty, through Jesus Christ our Lord, with whom and in whom, by the power of the Holy spirit, we worship you in sons of never-ending praise: Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed by your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The minister takes the bread and breaks it in full view of the people, in silence or saying:
The bread we break is a sharing in the body of Christ.

The minister lifts the cup in full view of the people, in silence, or saying:
The cup we take is a sharing in the blood of Christ.

The minister holds out the bread and the cup to the people and says:
The gift of God for the people of God.

THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE BREAD AND WINE:

Words such as the following are said before or during the distribution:
Receive this holy sacrament of the body and blood of Christ, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.
Or:
The body of Christ keep you in eternal life. Amen.
The blood of Christ keep you in eternal life. Amen.

THE PRAYER OF THANKGIVING:

Father of all, we give you thanks and praise that when we were still far off you met us in your Son and brought us home. Dying and living, he declared your love, gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory. May we who share Christ's body live his risen life; we who drink his cup bring life to others; we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world. Anchor us in this hope that we have grasped; so we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE BLESSING:

The blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen.
