2007 Reunions

Emerald Reunion
The day may have been a little overcast but the event was bright and full of sunshine and fun, as 100 Old Collegians gathered for lunch in the Assembly Hall on Tuesday, 20 March. Old Collegians who left PGC between 1948 and 1957 form the Emerald Reunion group. Many came early to join the tour of the Boarding House and Barr Smith House and were astounded at the fine accommodation and flexibility allowed present day boarders. It was much stricter in their time! Art students in Barr Smith were pleased to welcome the ladies as they explored the basement art rooms, and asked many questions about the indoor swimming pool. Keen interest was shown in what the girls were doing. Guest speaker Judith Roberts AO (Caines ’54) struck a very familiar chord as she told stories of her school days and shared her life and work since school. She touched many with her commitment to improving the health of women and children, and with the humility she displayed with regard to her achievements in this area.

Queensland Reunion
The Botanic Gardens Cafe was the setting again in June for the Queensland reunion. A delicious brunch was enjoyed by all and the Principal, Belinda Provis, was able to update Queensland Old Collegians on College events and future plans.

1987 Reunion
The Class of 1987 came from far and wide to attend their 20 year reunion on Saturday, 5 May. More than 50 Old Collegians returned to the College from as far away as England and New Zealand, with many interstaters from NSW, Victoria and Tasmania. They enjoyed a tour of the College followed by drinks in Barr Smith House and dinner in Adam House Dining Hall. The following day, many also enjoyed a family picnic in the Junior School grounds.

1967 Reunion
Lunch was the choice of the Class of 1967 for their 40 year reunion on Saturday, 23 June. Much has changed on campus in 40 years and seeing some of these changes was the focus of a walking tour before lunch. There was lots of friendly chatter and memories shared even before we visited Oodnadatta Cottage to see the College Archive and view a display of photos and memorabilia from the 60’s. Lunch was served in Barr Smith House and was an informal and very happy time with some of the ladies taking the time to explore the building that was their home as boarders.

1977 Reunion
On Saturday, 4 August, fifty 'girls' congregated at Seymour College for their 30 year reunion. After an informative tour and visit to Oodnadatta Cottage, drinks were served in the Barr Smith Reception Room, followed by dinner in the Boarders' Dining Room. It was a most enjoyable evening with the opportunity to catch up with so many school cooleagues. Many ladies from overseas and interstate made the effort to attend, along with those from country South Australia. There was much laughter and reminiscing and i am sure a good time was had by all.

Tracye Koerner ('77)

NSW (Sydney)
A lively group representing seven decades of PGC and Seymour Old Collegians enjoyed brunch in the Sydney Botanic Gardens restaurant in August. The Principal, Belinda Provis, attended, and was able to bring the guests up to date on happenings in the College. Many friendships were renewed and new contacts were made as the years seemed to slip away for many of the Old Collegians.
