The best thing about Seymour is the warmth of the classroom even when it's cold

The SACE

Seymour College is committed to offering a flexible curriculum which supports Senior School students to achieve their goals and ambitions.

The SACE is a flexible and responsive curriculum framework which offers the opportunity to plan and develop a course of study that is diverse and which meets the personal needs of individuals. A broad range of interesting and challenging subjects are offered to cater for students with different future aspirations.

The SACE gives students the opportunity to gain recognition and credit for Community Based Learning and Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, and - where appropriate - students may be encouraged to consider taking these courses for personal development or as an organised alternative to their academic program.

More information in regard to the SACE can be obtained from the SACE Board website at www.saceboard.sa.edu.au.

Personal Learning Plan (PLP)

The Stage 1 PLP is a compulsory SACE subject designed to help students make informed decisions about their personal development, education, and training. The course provides students with time to work with teachers and other experts to develop knowledge and skills in planning for their SACE and future beyond school. The aim is for each student to achieve success in the SACE and to prepare for work, further education and training, and community life.

The Personal Learning Plan supports students in developing knowledge and skills that will enable them to:

  • identify appropriate future options
  • choose appropriate subjects and courses for their SACE
  • review their strengths and areas for development, including skills in literacy, numeracy, and information and communication technologies
  • identify goals and plans for improvement
  • monitor their actions and review and adjust plans as needed to achieve their goals.
