Seymour doesn't just prepare us for Year 12, it prepares us for life

Senior School

What our Senior School parents say:

"My daughter has experienced being welcomed and cared for - the buddy system has worked exceedingly well."

"We are more than happy!"

"We can't think of a single thing we'd suggest to improve out daughter's experience in Senior School."

Building on the foundation established in a student's earlier years, Seymour's Senior School continues to encourage the pursuit of personal excellence, according to each girl's ability.

The Senior School caters for Years 10 to 12 and has a proud record of achievement, with the majority of students continuing to tertiary study.

Supported by a caring, experienced and highly qualified teaching staff, many Seymour girls perform at the highest level, and all are encouraged to attain their own level of excellence. The concept of personal excellence encourages students to strive for improved results, whilst promoting self-esteem.

At Seymour, we recognise that students in the Senior School are growing in maturity and independence as they deal progressively with their identity, relationships, roles, purposes, health, learning and their future. Preparation for life beyond secondary school is a key focus in the Senior School. This preparation incorporates two aspects: the pastoral pathway encouraging resilience, independence and social awareness, and the individual academic pathway promoting personal excellence in scholarship.

Our expectation of senior school students is that they will lead by example. We expect that their intellectual rigour, their emotional resilience and their relationships with each other will be marked by positive engagement with their peers and teachers, and a willingness to work through challenges and overcome obstacles.

At the conclusion of their time at the College, our graduates are able to move into the next phase of their lives as confident and creative individuals who embrace opportunities, make rational and informed decisions about their own lives while accepting responsibility for their actions, and have the knowledge, skills, understanding and values to establish and maintain healthy, satisfying lives.

We encourage our students to participate fully in the life of Seymour and to take advantage of the many options within and beyond the classroom. We know that young people who are involved, who pursue their interests and passions, and who form important relationships with adults and with their peers will be active and productive contributors to the wider community.
