Introduction to Boarding
The atmosphere in the Boarding House
is warm and friendly. Boarders, accepted as a general rule from
Year 7 onwards, are welcomed from the start. Carefully selected
staff ease the transition into Boarding House life. Year 12 students
are given single rooms centred in one section of the Boarding House.
Students in other year levels share bedrooms, generally on a twin-share
basis. Boarders have access to the school's
many facilities, including the swimming pool, playing fields, tennis
courts, computing centre, library and sporting complex. Meals are
wholesome and boarders enjoy barbecues in the gardens at weekends. Life for the boarders is a blend of
work and leisure. Quiet periods are set aside for homework and study.
At weekends girls may spend time with friends or relatives. The
accent is on a relaxing but disciplined environment. Boarders attend
socials, take part in outings and may visit their school friends
at weekends. They have access to STD telephones and several common
rooms. Health is a prime consideration. Medical
sisters are on hand and the school doctor visits twice a week. The
sick bay can accommodate up to six girls. Visiting hours for parents
are flexible-gone is the day when parents had to make appointments
to see their daughters! |
